MUSIC MINISTRY

The Adult Choir has a long tradition of strong musical leadership at St. Edward Parish.  The choir is a three-part ensemble, composed of about twenty members.  The choir ministers at the 9:30 Mass and prepares through weekly rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00PM in the Church.  In addition, the choir sings at the liturgies of Holy Week and other special liturgies during the year.

Cantors serve as presiders of the sung prayer.  Their role is not "soloist" but as "enabler" to help each member of the community participate in our sung prayer.  Cantors should have a pleasant voice, and a desire to learn and to help the assembly.

The Children's Choir is a seasonal choir that rehearses in Nov. and Dec. on Thursdays from 5:00 - 6:00PM and enhances the community's song on Christmas Eve at the 4:00PM Mass.  Any child from grades 2 - 6 is invited to sing in the Children's Choir.

The Youth Choir represents a select group of vocalists ages 13-16.  The Youth Choir ministers each month on the fourth Saturday at the 5:00PM Mass as well as special services throughout the year such as Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter, youth ministry and other special services.
For more information regarding the Youth Choir, contact Jill Moran at (508) 359-7616.

The Contemporary Music Group in composed of teen voices along with an instrumental ensemble to provide accompaniment.  The repertoire is mostly contemporary liturgical music.  The group rehearses from 6:00 - 7:00PM on Thursday evenings and ministers weekly at the Sunday 6:00PM Mass.

We are always looking for cantors, choir members, and instrumentalists.
