RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Grades 1-6

"Together in God we are whole"

The concept of Religious Education begins at the Baptismal instruction and continues through all grades into programs and experiences offered to adults.

Parents are the primary religious educators of their children.  Our goal in the Religious Education Program is to supplement this basic parental role.

The formal Religious Education Program begins in Grade 1.  Children at all grade levels are taught, primarily, in small neighborhood classes by parishioners who volunteer to share their faith with our students.  The program begins annually in September and runs through April.  In early May, we celebrate First Communion with our second graders.  Confirmation is celebrated with our tenth graders in the spring on a date confirmed with the Regional Bishop.  Registration is held in the spring for the coming year for all grade levels.  New parishioners are required to register with the parish prior to registering their children for religious education classes.

This is Our Faith, a time-honored faith formation program published by Silver Burdett & Ginn, is taught in Grades 1 through 6, and is a particularly adaptable "user friendly" textbook series for teaching and learning in small home-based groups.  In each grade level, This is Our Faith provides an age-appropriate presentation of doctrine, Scripture, morality, prayer, and sacraments in a complete and comprehensive manner.
