CATHOLIC
DAUGHTERS
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, formerly known as the Daughters of Isabella, is a national organization founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus. Catholic Daughters of the Americas, also referred to as The Order since its inception, has been in the mainstream of the life of the Church in the Americas. Under the local level there are 40 courts within Massachusetts of which Court St. Edward No. 1154 is a member. The purpose of The Order is to foster religious, charitable, and educational functions. Catholic women in good standing in the Church shall be eligible for and entitled to membership. The members of Catholic Daughters become involved in various issues pertaining to Right to Life programs, feeding the hungary, clothing the naked, caring for the homeless, caring for the abused child, challenging legislation that is in direct contradiction with Catholic belief, supporting the Holy Father, bishops and clergy, holding educational contests: art, poetry, essay, poster, scholarships, mission activities and many other works. The Court meets on the first Thurday of each month from September to June. The meetings start at 7:00PM. Notices of meetings will be found in the parish bulletin and in local newspapers. In addition to charitable works, social activities are also incorporated into the meetings. Court St. Edward is
looking for "many good women to make this world a better place."
